New Gigabeat pops up over at FCC!

The new Gigabeat, currently called MET401, seems to have WiFi (b+g) capabilities and run Windows Embeded. Windows Embeded is a "mini" Windows XP OS. The upside of running something like this on the Gigabeat is that gives Toshiba the opportunity to introduce all kinds of feature in the device. For example, Toshiba could elect to include IE for browsing capabilities which makes sense if this thing is sporting WiFi.

Interesting to see they haven't abandoned the Gigabeat line, but it doesn't really help those of us with S series devices. Besides 4 and 8GB? I couldn't even cram a quarter of my collection into one of those. Useless.

I'm still bitter about the abandonment of the S series and Toshiba's lack of support, communication and sense of responsibility. The S had so much potential. Anyhow, I'll look elsewhere for my next MP3 player... perhaps a second gen zune or whatever iriver comes up with.
